I wanted to offer an update on the velobuild VB-R-099 I picked up a few months ago.

The bikes was ordered as raw carbon with clear coat but was delivered painted black.
Not a huge issue but not what I wanted.
The axles were also the incorrect lengths for the frame. The front is 15mm too long and the rear is 10mm too short.( yes they are the correct way around )
The frame was also delivered with the wrong size integrated bars which were far too bendy to use ,and honestly didn't feel safe.


After repeated emails to Chris we agreed they would send me a new bar, the HB0011 and I also picked up their new stem which was supposed to be compatible with the 099 frame.

So, yesterday the new bar and stem arrived. The stem was supposed to be 125g but is 175g, the special top cap was missing and there is no way this will fit the frame without gaps all around the spacers and bearing cover. Oh, the bearing cover also doesn't cover the bearing and also isn't compatible with the steerer support which keeps the steerer central in the head tube.
So, that's a fail.
The new integrated bar also doesn't work with the 099 frame as the spacers don't align with the peg and hole system.

So, 5 months and I still can't really use this frame set, and I'm 60 e-mails deep with Chris with no resolution in sight.

They sell untested items and have no cross compatibility with their frame sets. Avoid them unless you are local and can hand pick the items.

I'm going to battle this out but I've asked PayPal to step in as velobuild have little interest is providing the working frameset and the parts are of poor design and quality.

瑞豹碳架可信嗎? PARDUS CABRON FRAME TRUSTABLE?

Pardus is the chinese brand of the factory that makes bontrager carbon products like handlebars. I don't know if they make trek frames but it's possible.

I have a set of Pardus integrated "bontrager xxx" handlebars and they're great. Same weight or even a few grams lower than bontrager. It's clearly not a fake. They have the details that the bontragers have but the fakes don't.

Pardus frames aren't that cheap but should be pretty good though.

The advantage of buying a factory brand frame is that it's not an outsourced product. Therefore the QC should be above average for its price, or even among more expensive frames.

Pardus OEM frames for Cervelo, Argon18, factor before 2019, NeilPryde (the mould of Bura sl now is under Pardus' ownership, named as robin sl) and ODM for some small europe brands. They don't make Trek frames though they make XXX and factor's integrated bars. Factor now has its own factory in Xiamen since the production of VAM.
